Unplugged Adventures - A Beginner's Guide to Backcountry Hiking & Camping
Sunday, December 1st @ 7pm
Want to explore Cape Chignecto, Fundy Footpath, Pollet’s Cove, Keji and more but don’t know where to start? In this workshop, we’ll answer all your burning outdoor questions, from pre-planning to on-trail advice to gear suggestions to care and cleaning, and more!
This is the workshop we wish we had before we trekked into the wilderness and learned a lot by making mistakes, carrying way too much weight, and suffering for no reason 😆.
Topics include:
Safety
Foot Care
Food & Water
Layering
Packs
Shelter
Sleep System
Kitchen
Clothing
Electronics
Questions answered include:
Where do I poop?
How do I filter water?
What size pack do I need?
What do I bring?
Does a 3-person tent fit 3 people?
What do sleeping bag ratings mean?
Is Merino better than polyester?
How do I avoid blisters?
And so much more.
The fee is $10, and we will donate 25% to Hike Nova Scotia.
The session will be held in our largest clinic room at Sore Spots. If we exceed the numbers for the space, we will move to the conference area attached to the building, just a short walk up the stairs past the elevators.
