A humble update...

Late last year, I shared that I transitioned to offering Thai massage as my primary treatment style. This decision followed the completion of a 150 hour training & I was eager to fully integrate these techniques for the well-being of my practice and patients.  Here’s my humble update.

Not long after that decision, I experienced a knee injury which gets repeatedly aggravated with movements associated with deep knee bends. I want to offer the very best to my patients so I’ve made the decision to temporarily remove Thai massage offerings. My mission is to maintain a pain-free practice while continuing to offer the other hands-on and barefoot therapies I’m passionate about. While this may seem like a setback, I continue to calibrate & mesh the elements of Thai massage that do fit into practice.  I’m so grateful that there are still many valuable lessons and concepts of Thai massage that blend beautifully into the therapeutic experience I so love to create for each and every one of you.

If Thai massage is your preferred treatment, I highly recommend booking with Jora (as seen above) or Minn, both of whom have extensive experience and continue to refine their Thai massage skills.

In the meantime, as part of my recovery, I’m reconnecting with a comprehensive self-care plan.  I am following my own advice that many of you have probably received directly from me with regards to injury and pain management.

Here’s the plan ~ take what you need:

Daily Mobility: continued, snack sized, daily mobility that includes strength, stretch & joint wiring work.

Pain-Free Movement: avoidance of irritating movements - I’m aiming to interrupt the pain cycle between the body and the brain.  The idea is to work all joints and muscles with nutritious movements.

Hydration: Lots of water, lots and lots of water.  Avoiding coffee where I can or at the very least having it much later in the day.  Gives the body a chance to hydrate & receive nutrients before the caffeine dump.

Regular Therapy: regular massage therapy including barefoot techniques, cupping and shockwave has been extremely restorative.  Sore Spots therapists are also full of movement wisdom & I’m so grateful for their ‘take good care’ approach.

In the meantime, as I strengthen & heal up, I will continue to skillbuild all my creative massage tools, whether that’s Thai massage, hot stone, barefoot, cupping or my signature deep tissue hands on approach.  When my Thai approach feels safe for both you & me, we will send out another update to indicate that bookings are available specifically with me for this service again.

Until then, I’m on a healing journey.  As we all are.  When to step into challenge & when to take a step back.  Listening to the body for sensation is the language it uses to communicate with us.  I’m inviting you & I to follow this lead towards a better embodiment of freedom, joy & health.

As always, aiming to relieve mind, spirit & sore spots too.
